Using Sonar with Granola.

Granola's notes are the outcomes of your meetings already written down, which makes them the most direct material Sonar reads. Each week it takes the notes created in the last seven days, up to the five most recent, and mines the summaries in one pass for moments: a decision, a win, a lesson, a number worth saying. The text is then discarded.

There are two doors. One click sends you to Granola to approve Sonar, with nothing to configure and no key to keep, and the read runs through Granola's own connection. Paste a key instead and Sonar reads through Granola's public API. Either way the notes are read once a week, read-only, and the row in Settings shows the receipt.

The key door has one extra. Granola labels which transcript lines the note-taker said, so Sonar can read your own lines alone, skipping everyone else's, and use them to learn your spoken register. That is a separate opt-in in Settings, Voice, and it shapes scripts and takes, never your written posts. Granola's AI summaries never teach your voice: they are not your words.

• For the key door, a Granola plan that issues API keys. Create one in the Granola app under Settings, API keys (Business plan and up, as Granola sets it today).

   Open Connected sources

   Sign in at app.meetsonar.co and open Settings, Connected sources. The Granola row offers both doors: a one-click connect and a key field.

   One click: approve at Granola

   Choose the one-click connect. Granola's sign-in asks you to allow Sonar; approve, and you land back in Sonar with the connection made and the first read running.

   Or paste a key

   Create a key in the Granola app under Settings, API keys, and paste it into the row. Sonar checks it with one list call, keeps it server side, and runs the first read.

   Let the first read run

   Moments from the last seven days of notes land on Home shortly after. The row's receipt shows what was read and how many moments were kept.

There is nothing to operate. Sonar reads about once a week and after you connect; the Sync all button at the top of Connected sources runs every source now. Each read covers the last seven days and up to five notes. With a key the row lists the note titles and the moments kept; the one-click door returns the week as one text, so its receipt leads with the moments.

Moments land on Home and in the chat as material for drafts in your voice, with Granola as provenance, and the freshest are dealt into your weekly deck. In a draft, the people in your meetings become roles.

If you want your own transcript lines to teach your spoken voice, connect with a key and turn the sources switch on in Settings, Voice; it names Granola among the sources it reads.

Settings, Connected sources, flip the Granola switch off. A one-click connection is revoked at Granola and deleted; a pasted key is deleted. Nothing from Granola can be read from then on. You can also revoke the key inside the Granola app.

Moments already mined stay in your workspace because they are yours: delete any one, everything from Granola, or all of them in Settings, Intelligence, Moments, or set a retention rule of 30 days, 90 days or a year.

Note text and transcript lines are processed in memory and discarded after the extraction pass; nothing of them is stored. What stays is the moments and the row's receipt. Keys and tokens are server side only and encrypted at rest.

Your notes are sent transiently to the AI provider that mines them and not retained for training under its API terms; they are never shared with other users.
